Go! Speak God’s Words to America – as a Sufferer!

The Voice of Jeremiah: I declare the Word of God to you, America, not only as a messenger[1] and as a watchman,[2] but also as a sufferer[3]—as a sufferer, because I live in the midst of your rebellious, wicked, and unrepentant ways.

This is what the Sovereign Lord says: “Son of man, take into your heart all My words which I will speak to you and listen closely. Go to your people, the people of America, and speak to them. Tell them: ‘This is what the Sovereign Lord says!’ Do this whether they listen or refuse to listen.”[4]

The Voice of Jeremiah: So the Spirit has lifted me up and the Lord’s hand is on me powerfully. I have been sent to the people of America, who are living by rivers and oceans and I sit here, where they are living, stunned, astonished, and overwhelmed.

America, I have received the Word that God has given me and now I must take it to you—an evil and adulterous generation. The Lord has caused me, His servant, to sit among you to see and feel the burden of disappointment, grief,[5] and misery brought about by your rebellious and sinful ways. But instead of repenting and seeking God’s face, you are regretting your lot in life—you are bemoaning the obvious judgment of God that is already coming down around you while being blind to your impending fall and destruction.

As I sit here among you, people of America, overwhelmed by what the Lord has said and is saying to me and by what He has done and is doing for me, I realize the seriousness of my calling and how great is the responsibility that God had placed on my shoulders. It is a bitter-sweet but good thing for me, God’s servant, to be among the people of America—to weep with those who weep and rejoice with those who rejoice—for God’s servant can better minister to the people when he knows their hearts and experiences their pain. The Lord God has made it clear to me; it is not enough simply to proclaim the message of God, God’s servant must also seek to have the loving, caring heart of God.

The Voice of Jeremiah’s plea: O America, the judgment hand of Almighty God is coming down upon you! But, the Lord Jesus Christ specializes in hopeless cases. He breaks the power of sin and He sets the prisoner free from the bondage of his sin.[6] Repent, mourn your sin, and turn back to God before it is too late!
