I Remember Your Loyalty

America, I remember your loyalty of long ago. The LORD Almighty says to The Voice of Jeremiah, “Go and proclaim—shout and cry—in the ears of America, saying, ‘Thus says the LORD, “I solemnly remember the kindness and devotion of your youth when I brought you to America, how eager you were to please Me as a young bride long ago, how you loved Me and followed Me even through the backwoods and rough country. In those days, America, you belonged to Me alone; you were My sacred possession—something set apart from ordinary purposes—dedicated to the Lord. All who harmed you were declared guilty, and evil came upon them—I sent suffering and disaster on everyone who hurt or injured you.” I, the Lord, have spoken!’”[1]

America, “What fault did you find in Me?” Hear the word of the LORD, O people of America—all you families of America. Here is what the LORD says, “What fault, what accusation, what wrong, did your ancestors find in Me that that they went far from Me, and habitually went after emptiness, falseness, and futility and themselves became fruitless and worthless?”[2]

America, “You corrupted the country I gave you!” This is what the LORD says, “They stopped asking: ‘Where is the LORD Who brought us safely out of a distant land and Who led us through the backwoods and rough country—a dangerous land, where no one travels and no one lives?’ “I brought you to a fertile land to eat its fruit and bounty, but after you entered, you defiled My land and corrupted the country I had given you.”[3]

America, “Your priests, rulers, and secular shepherds did not know Me!” This is what the LORD says, “Even the priests did not say, ‘Where is the LORD?’ And those who taught My word, the law given by God, ignored Me—they did not know Me. The rulers and secular shepherds also transgressed against Me, and the prophets prophesied by the authority and in the name of false gods, wasting their time they followed after things that do not profit.[4]

America, “I make this pronouncement!” Hear the word of the LORD, O people of America, “Therefore, I will bring my case against you by inflicting further judgments on you, says the LORD, I will even bring charges against your children’s children in the years to come.”[5]
