America refuses to obey God

The Voice of Jeremiah’s rebuke and prophecy: Yes, America you are doomed! You are collapsing because you speak out against the LORD and refuse to obey Him! You even provoke Him to His face! Everything you say and do is against the LORD; you openly insult God Himself! America, the very look on your faces gives you away; your prejudices will be held against you! You sin as openly as the people of Sodom did; you don’t even try to hide it.

America, because of your wickedness you are doomed! And you have brought it on yourselves! What you have done to others will now be done to you; you will get exactly what you deserve! America, your moneylenders oppress the people, and your creditors cheat you. Your childish leaders oppress and mislead you; they send you down the wrong path! You are so deceived and confused that you do not know which way to turn. But know this, America, all will be well with the righteous and godly in your land! They will enjoy the rich reward they have earned!

America, the LORD is ready to state His case against you; He is ready to judge you and bring your elders and leaders to judgment. He makes this accusation.

Thus says the LORD:  ”You elders and leaders have ruined America! You have plundered the land and its people, and your houses are full of what you have stolen from the poor. How dare you crush my people, grinding the faces of the poor into the dust? You have no right to take advantage of the poor! I, the Sovereign LORD Almighty, have spoken!”[1]

The Voice of Jeremiah’s plea: America, you are an evil unrepentant nation and the judgment hand of Almighty God is coming down upon you! Repent before it is too late—from your “king,” to your “leaders,” to the least of you! Repent and turn back to God. Who knows, God may withdraw His burning anger and relent concerning the calamity which He is about to bring down upon you![2]

The Voice of Jeremiah’s rebuke and prophecy: America, you are doomed! Now you stumble, but soon you will fall, because you are a rebellious, unrepentant, and evil generation! The LORD of Heaven’s Armies, will take away from you everything and everyone that your people depend on. He is going to take away every bit of bread and every drop of water. He is going to take away all your heroes and soldiers, judges and prophets, fortune-tellers and statesmen,  army officers and civilian leaders, politicians, skilled craftsmen, and astrologers.

America, the judgment of Almighty God is already upon you! The LORD of Heaven’s Armies, has made boys your leaders, and toddlers your rulers. Your people oppress and take advantage of each other—man against man, neighbor against neighbor. Your young people insult their elders, and your vulgar worthless people sneer at the honorable. Your men say to their brothers, “You at least have something to wear, you be our leader in this time of trouble! Take charge of this heap of ruins!” But they reply, “No! Not me! I can’t help you! I don’t have any extra food or clothes. Don’t put me in charge!”

America, you are doomed! Now you stumble, but soon you will fall, because you are a wicked and rebellious nation of people who speak out against the LORD and refuse to obey Him. You openly insult and provoke the LORD to His face. America, the very look on your faces gives you away. You display your sin like the people of Sodom, you don’t even try to hide it.

America, you are doomed! You have brought this judgment and destruction upon yourselves! However, in the midst of all your wicked and rebellious people dwell a remnant of the godly—those saved by their faith in the Lord Jesus Christ. Tell the godly that all will be well with them. They will enjoy the rich eternal reward bestowed upon them by the amazing grace of God! But tell the wicked they are headed to destruction! For they will get exactly what they deserve! What they have done to others will now be done to them![1]

This is what the Sovereign Lord says: Woe to the wicked! It shall be ill with them, for what their hands have done shall be done to them.[2] But how blessed is the man, how happy, how fortunate, how prosperous, and enviable is the man who walks and lives not in the counsel of the ungodly following their advice, their plans and purposes, nor stands submissive and inactive in the path where sinners walk, nor sits down to relax and rest where the scornful and the mockers gather. But rather, his delight and desire are in the law of the LORD. On His law—the precepts, the instructions, the teachings of God—he habitually meditates, ponders and studies by day and by night.

That man shall be like a tree firmly planted and tended by the streams of water, ready to bring forth its fruit in its season; its leaf also shall not fade or wither; and everything he does shall prosper and come to maturity. But not so the wicked, those disobedient and living without God. They are like the chaff—worthless, dead, without substance—which the wind drives away. Therefore the wicked shall not stand justified in the judgment, nor sinners assemble in the congregation of the righteous—those who are upright and in right standing with God because of their faith in Jesus Christ. For the Lord knows and is fully acquainted with the way of the righteous, but the way of the ungodly—those living outside God’s will—shall perish and their end will be in ruin and come to nothing.[3]

The Voice of Jeremiah’s plea: O America, overwhelming chaos is coming to your nation! [4] No matter where I look, the LORD shows me ruin and devastation! Even the stable mountains will shake! Only God’s mercy can keep you from complete destruction! [5] But the Lord Jesus Christ, the Savior of the world, specializes in hopeless cases. He breaks the power of sin and He sets the prisoner free from the bondage of his sin. [6] Repent, mourn your sin, turn back to God, and be saved before it is too late!
