The Voice of Jeremiah’s Cry: O America, I wish my head were a well of water, and my eyes a fountain of tears, so that I could cry day and night for you, my people, who will soon be slaughtered. Oh, that I could go away and forget you, my people, and live in a shack for travelers in the desert. You are all unfaithful, a mob of traitors—a pack of treacherous liars always ready to tell lies! Dishonesty instead of truth rules the land!

O America, you do one evil thing after another and do not acknowledge the LORD as your God! Therefore beware of your neighbor! Be on guard against your friends! Don’t even trust your relatives; for relative takes advantage of relative and everyone slanders his friends. You all fool and mislead each other; no one tells the truth! You have taught your tongues to lie and will not give up your sinning! You do one violent thing after another, and one deceitful act follows another! You dwell in the midst of deceit; through deceit you utterly refuse to know the LORD![1]

Therefore, this is what the Sovereign LORD says: “See, I will refine them! I will melt them by the process of affliction to remove the dross and test them, for what else can I do because of the sin of My people? For their tongues shoot lies like poisoned arrows. They speak friendly words to their neighbors while scheming in their heart to lay a snare and ambush them.  Should I not punish them for this?” says the LORD. “Shall I not avenge Myself on such a nation as this?” [2]

Thus says the LORD: America “Your own wickedness shall punish and correct you, and your turning from Me and desertion of faith shall condemn you; Know therefore and recognize that this is an evil and bitter thing: first, you have forsaken the Lord your God; second, you are indifferent to Me and the fear of Me is not in you. You will learn how bitter and wrong it is to abandon Me, the Lord your God, and no longer to remain faithful to Me. I, the Sovereign Lord Almighty, have spoken.”[3]

The Voice of Jeremiah’s rebuke and prophecy: Yes, America you are doomed! You are collapsing because you speak out against the LORD and refuse to obey Him! You even provoke Him to His face! Everything you say and do is against the LORD; you openly insult God Himself! America, the very look on your faces gives you away; your prejudices will be held against you! You sin as openly as the people of Sodom did; you don’t even try to hide it.

America, because of your wickedness you are doomed! And you have brought it on yourselves! What you have done to others will now be done to you; you will get exactly what you deserve! America, your moneylenders oppress the people, and your creditors cheat you. Your childish leaders oppress and mislead you; they send you down the wrong path! You are so deceived and confused that you do not know which way to turn. But know this, America, all will be well with the righteous and godly in your land! They will enjoy the rich reward they have earned!

America, the LORD is ready to state His case against you; He is ready to judge you and bring your elders and leaders to judgment. He makes this accusation.

Thus says the LORD:  ”You elders and leaders have ruined America! You have plundered the land and its people, and your houses are full of what you have stolen from the poor. How dare you crush my people, grinding the faces of the poor into the dust? You have no right to take advantage of the poor! I, the Sovereign LORD Almighty, have spoken!”[1]

The Voice of Jeremiah’s plea: America, you are an evil unrepentant nation and the judgment hand of Almighty God is coming down upon you! Repent before it is too late—from your “king,” to your “leaders,” to the least of you! Repent and turn back to God. Who knows, God may withdraw His burning anger and relent concerning the calamity which He is about to bring down upon you![2]

The Voice of Jeremiah’s rebuke and prophecy: America, listen! You and your children who God has brought up have rebelled against Him! Cattle know who owns them, and donkeys know where their master feeds them. But that is more than the people of America—once God’s people—know.

People of America you do not understand at all! You are doomed—you sinful nation, you corrupt and evil people! Your sins drag you down! You have rejected the LORD, the holy God of Israel, and have turned your backs on Him. Why do you keep on rebelling, America? Do you want to be punished even more? America, your head is already covered with wounds, and your heart and mind are sick. From head to foot there is not a healthy spot on your body. You are covered with bruises and sores and open wounds. Your wounds have not been cleaned or bandaged. No medicine has been put on them. You are a corrupt nation on a path to devastation, and your cities are about to be burned to the ground. While you look on, foreigners will take over your land and bring everything to ruin.

Thus says the LORD: Listen, heavens, and pay attention, earth, for the LORD has spoken: “I have raised children and brought them up, but they have rebelled against Me. The ox knows its owner, and the donkey its master’s feeding trough, but America does not know; My people do not understand. Oh sinful nation, people weighed down with iniquity, brood of evildoers, depraved children! They have abandoned the LORD; they have despised the Holy One of Israel; they have turned their backs on Him. Why do you want more beatings? Why do you keep on rebelling? The whole head is hurt, and the whole heart is sick. From the sole of the foot even to the head, no spot is uninjured— wounds, welts, and festering sores not cleansed, bandaged, or soothed with oil. Your land is desolate, your cities burned with fire; foreigners devour your fields before your very eyes— a desolation demolished by foreigners.[1]

The Voice of Jeremiah’s rebuke: America, your own wickedness shall punish and correct you, and your turning from the Sovereign LORD and desertion of faith shall condemn you! Know therefore and recognize that this is an evil and bitter thing: first, you have forsaken the LORD your God; second, you are indifferent to Him and the fear of the LORD is not in you. You will learn how bitter and wrong it is to abandon the LORD your God and no longer to remain faithful to Him. [2] Read the rest of this entry »
