Judgment of the Nation

The Voice of Jeremiah’s rebuke and prophecy: America, there is great injustice in the land! Your people do not care about being truthful, fair, and honest. Their lawsuits are based on nothing but lies. They only sue for the sake of doing injury to others and to take undue advantage of others. They conceive evil deeds and then give birth to sin. And your evil and deceitful rulers are even worse! They are like pregnant women giving birth to sin,[1] they are like snakes hatching their eggs, and like spiders weaving their webs. What they give birth to will only destroy them,[2] and their beautiful webs of lies will not protect them!

The LORD makes this accusation: “No one makes claims justly; no one pleads honestly. They trust in empty and worthless words; they conceive trouble and give birth to iniquity. They hatch viper’s eggs and weave spider’s webs. Whoever eats their eggs will die; crack one open, and a viper is hatched. Their webs cannot become clothing, and they cannot cover themselves with their works. Their works are sinful works, and violent acts are in their hands!”[3]

The Voice of Jeremiah’s rebuke and prophecy: America, there is great injustice in the land! Both you and your wicked rulers live on lies and deception—the entire nation lives in a twilight zone of consuming darkness and you do not know where you are going because the darkness of unrepentant sin has blinded your eyes![4]

Woe to you, America! Truth, honesty, and justice have vanished in the land and the wrath of God is coming upon you![5] Woe to you, America! No one intercedes or intervenes![6] Thus the LORD Himself will intervene! He will bring destruction upon you, America! The LORD will teach you that His people cannot despise and mock His Law and get away with it!

The Voice of Jeremiah’s plea: O America, the judgment hand of Almighty God is coming down upon you! But, the Lord Jesus Christ, the Savior of the world, specializes in hopeless cases. He breaks the power of sin and He sets the prisoner free from the bondage of his sin.[7] Repent, mourn your sin, turn back to God, and be saved before it is too late!

The Voice of Jeremiah’s rebuke: America, the judgment of Almighty God is already upon you! The LORD of Heaven’s Armies, has made boys your leaders, and toddlers your rulers. And their hearts are hard and calloused![1]

America, your evil and wicked “king” is a toddler who wrongly and deceitfully sits on his throne in America’s house of cedar.[2] He benefits from the covenant the LORD made with your forefathers in the days of God’s glory,[3] and yet your “king” does not worship nor serve Him as your forefathers did for his heart is hard and calloused.

America now is the time for your wicked toddler “king” and your corrupt boy leaders to repent and humble themselves before the LORD and obey God’s Law and execute true justice in the land!  But they will not repent! They will refuse to turn to God for their hearts are hard and calloused![4]

America, you are warned! The LORD God will destroy your nation’s royal palace and your American dynasty because of your sins and the sins of your corrupt boy leaders and wicked and deceitful toddler “king.” America, your royal house of cedar will fall and be cut down and burned as your enemies go through the land like men chopping down a forest in Lebanon.[5]

But America, the LORD God is merciful! He offers you and your corrupt boy leaders and evil and deceitful toddler “king” a small window of opportunity: If you and your evil shepherds will repent—from  your evil and deceitful “king” to least among you—and do justice, the LORD God will deliver America and reestablish His glorious and sovereign rule in the land.[6]

But woe to you America! Your hearts and those of your corrupt boy leaders and evil toddler “king” are calloused and hard, and neither you nor they will listen! Woe to you America! The ruins of your land will be a monument to your unrepentant wickedness![7]

America in your spiritual blindness you have sealed your own fate and fall to destruction by willfully placing yourselves under the rule and authority of your “king” and “savior”—the man of lawlessness! Therefore this is what the LORD God says: “Your own wickedness shall punish and correct you, and your turning from Me and desertion of faith shall condemn you; know therefore and recognize that this is an evil and bitter thing: first, you have forsaken the LORD your God; second, you are indifferent to Me and the fear of Me is not in you. You will learn how bitter and wrong it is to abandon Me, the LORD your God, and no longer to remain faithful to Me. I, the Sovereign LORD Almighty, have spoken.”[8]

The Voice of Jeremiah’s plea: O America, overwhelming chaos is coming to your nation! [9] No matter where I look, the LORD shows me ruin and devastation! Even the stable mountains will shake! Only God’s mercy can keep you from complete destruction! [10] But the Lord Jesus Christ, the Savior of the world, specializes in hopeless cases. He breaks the power of sin and He sets the prisoner free from the bondage of his sin. [11] Repent, mourn your sin, turn back to God, and be saved before it is too late!

The Voice of Jeremiah’s rebuke and prophecy: America, you are doomed! Now you stumble, but soon you will fall, because you are a rebellious, unrepentant, and evil generation! The LORD of Heaven’s Armies, will take away from you everything and everyone that your people depend on. He is going to take away every bit of bread and every drop of water. He is going to take away all your heroes and soldiers, judges and prophets, fortune-tellers and statesmen,  army officers and civilian leaders, politicians, skilled craftsmen, and astrologers.

America, the judgment of Almighty God is already upon you! The LORD of Heaven’s Armies, has made boys your leaders, and toddlers your rulers. Your people oppress and take advantage of each other—man against man, neighbor against neighbor. Your young people insult their elders, and your vulgar worthless people sneer at the honorable. Your men say to their brothers, “You at least have something to wear, you be our leader in this time of trouble! Take charge of this heap of ruins!” But they reply, “No! Not me! I can’t help you! I don’t have any extra food or clothes. Don’t put me in charge!”

America, you are doomed! Now you stumble, but soon you will fall, because you are a wicked and rebellious nation of people who speak out against the LORD and refuse to obey Him. You openly insult and provoke the LORD to His face. America, the very look on your faces gives you away. You display your sin like the people of Sodom, you don’t even try to hide it.

America, you are doomed! You have brought this judgment and destruction upon yourselves! However, in the midst of all your wicked and rebellious people dwell a remnant of the godly—those saved by their faith in the Lord Jesus Christ. Tell the godly that all will be well with them. They will enjoy the rich eternal reward bestowed upon them by the amazing grace of God! But tell the wicked they are headed to destruction! For they will get exactly what they deserve! What they have done to others will now be done to them![1]

This is what the Sovereign Lord says: Woe to the wicked! It shall be ill with them, for what their hands have done shall be done to them.[2] But how blessed is the man, how happy, how fortunate, how prosperous, and enviable is the man who walks and lives not in the counsel of the ungodly following their advice, their plans and purposes, nor stands submissive and inactive in the path where sinners walk, nor sits down to relax and rest where the scornful and the mockers gather. But rather, his delight and desire are in the law of the LORD. On His law—the precepts, the instructions, the teachings of God—he habitually meditates, ponders and studies by day and by night.

That man shall be like a tree firmly planted and tended by the streams of water, ready to bring forth its fruit in its season; its leaf also shall not fade or wither; and everything he does shall prosper and come to maturity. But not so the wicked, those disobedient and living without God. They are like the chaff—worthless, dead, without substance—which the wind drives away. Therefore the wicked shall not stand justified in the judgment, nor sinners assemble in the congregation of the righteous—those who are upright and in right standing with God because of their faith in Jesus Christ. For the Lord knows and is fully acquainted with the way of the righteous, but the way of the ungodly—those living outside God’s will—shall perish and their end will be in ruin and come to nothing.[3]

The Voice of Jeremiah’s plea: O America, overwhelming chaos is coming to your nation! [4] No matter where I look, the LORD shows me ruin and devastation! Even the stable mountains will shake! Only God’s mercy can keep you from complete destruction! [5] But the Lord Jesus Christ, the Savior of the world, specializes in hopeless cases.
