The Voice of Jeremiah’s rebuke and prophecy: America, there is great injustice in the land! Your people do not care about being truthful, fair, and honest. Their lawsuits are based on nothing but lies. They only sue for the sake of doing injury to others and to take undue advantage of others. They conceive evil deeds and then give birth to sin. And your evil and deceitful rulers are even worse! They are like pregnant women giving birth to sin,[1] they are like snakes hatching their eggs, and like spiders weaving their webs. What they give birth to will only destroy them,[2] and their beautiful webs of lies will not protect them!

The LORD makes this accusation: “No one makes claims justly; no one pleads honestly. They trust in empty and worthless words; they conceive trouble and give birth to iniquity. They hatch viper’s eggs and weave spider’s webs. Whoever eats their eggs will die; crack one open, and a viper is hatched. Their webs cannot become clothing, and they cannot cover themselves with their works. Their works are sinful works, and violent acts are in their hands!”[3]

The Voice of Jeremiah’s rebuke and prophecy: America, there is great injustice in the land! Both you and your wicked rulers live on lies and deception—the entire nation lives in a twilight zone of consuming darkness and you do not know where you are going because the darkness of unrepentant sin has blinded your eyes![4]

Woe to you, America! Truth, honesty, and justice have vanished in the land and the wrath of God is coming upon you![5] Woe to you, America! No one intercedes or intervenes![6] Thus the LORD Himself will intervene! He will bring destruction upon you, America! The LORD will teach you that His people cannot despise and mock His Law and get away with it!

The Voice of Jeremiah’s plea: O America, the judgment hand of Almighty God is coming down upon you! But, the Lord Jesus Christ, the Savior of the world, specializes in hopeless cases. He breaks the power of sin and He sets the prisoner free from the bondage of his sin.[7] Repent, mourn your sin, turn back to God, and be saved before it is too late!

The Voice of Jeremiah’s rebuke and prophecy: Yes, America you are doomed! You are collapsing because you speak out against the LORD and refuse to obey Him! You even provoke Him to His face! Everything you say and do is against the LORD; you openly insult God Himself! America, the very look on your faces gives you away; your prejudices will be held against you! You sin as openly as the people of Sodom did; you don’t even try to hide it.

America, because of your wickedness you are doomed! And you have brought it on yourselves! What you have done to others will now be done to you; you will get exactly what you deserve! America, your moneylenders oppress the people, and your creditors cheat you. Your childish leaders oppress and mislead you; they send you down the wrong path! You are so deceived and confused that you do not know which way to turn. But know this, America, all will be well with the righteous and godly in your land! They will enjoy the rich reward they have earned!

America, the LORD is ready to state His case against you; He is ready to judge you and bring your elders and leaders to judgment. He makes this accusation.

Thus says the LORD:  ”You elders and leaders have ruined America! You have plundered the land and its people, and your houses are full of what you have stolen from the poor. How dare you crush my people, grinding the faces of the poor into the dust? You have no right to take advantage of the poor! I, the Sovereign LORD Almighty, have spoken!”[1]

The Voice of Jeremiah’s plea: America, you are an evil unrepentant nation and the judgment hand of Almighty God is coming down upon you! Repent before it is too late—from your “king,” to your “leaders,” to the least of you! Repent and turn back to God. Who knows, God may withdraw His burning anger and relent concerning the calamity which He is about to bring down upon you![2]

The Voice of Jeremiah’s rebuke and prophecy: America, listen! You and your children who God has brought up have rebelled against Him! Cattle know who owns them, and donkeys know where their master feeds them. But that is more than the people of America—once God’s people—know.

People of America you do not understand at all! You are doomed—you sinful nation, you corrupt and evil people! Your sins drag you down! You have rejected the LORD, the holy God of Israel, and have turned your backs on Him. Why do you keep on rebelling, America? Do you want to be punished even more? America, your head is already covered with wounds, and your heart and mind are sick. From head to foot there is not a healthy spot on your body. You are covered with bruises and sores and open wounds. Your wounds have not been cleaned or bandaged. No medicine has been put on them. You are a corrupt nation on a path to devastation, and your cities are about to be burned to the ground. While you look on, foreigners will take over your land and bring everything to ruin.

Thus says the LORD: Listen, heavens, and pay attention, earth, for the LORD has spoken: “I have raised children and brought them up, but they have rebelled against Me. The ox knows its owner, and the donkey its master’s feeding trough, but America does not know; My people do not understand. Oh sinful nation, people weighed down with iniquity, brood of evildoers, depraved children! They have abandoned the LORD; they have despised the Holy One of Israel; they have turned their backs on Him. Why do you want more beatings? Why do you keep on rebelling? The whole head is hurt, and the whole heart is sick. From the sole of the foot even to the head, no spot is uninjured— wounds, welts, and festering sores not cleansed, bandaged, or soothed with oil. Your land is desolate, your cities burned with fire; foreigners devour your fields before your very eyes— a desolation demolished by foreigners.[1]

The Voice of Jeremiah’s rebuke: America, your own wickedness shall punish and correct you, and your turning from the Sovereign LORD and desertion of faith shall condemn you! Know therefore and recognize that this is an evil and bitter thing: first, you have forsaken the LORD your God; second, you are indifferent to Him and the fear of the LORD is not in you. You will learn how bitter and wrong it is to abandon the LORD your God and no longer to remain faithful to Him. [2] Read the rest of this entry »
